Staying Home Labor Day Weekend? Check Out This Local Fun

While many of you will get gone for the holiday weekend, don't worry about being bored at home. I've got some great local events everyone should check out! Singles and families, it's a great weekend to be in KC!

  • Santa Cali-Gon Days: Concerts, carnivals, crafts, oh my! Get funnel cake wasted, spin on some crazy carnival rides, or get an early start to Christmas in the craft tents. This event has plenty of bang for your buck.
    • Location: Independence Square, Independence, MO.
    • Date: August 29-September 1. Admission: Free!
    • Parking: Varies by lot.

  • KC Irish Fest: Pull out your inner Irish accent and hang with the kilt wearers. This festival is great for cultural education, arts and crafts, and those foodies interested in trying some Irish cuisine. Come feel the luck of the Irish and drink to your good fortune during a Jameson tasting. Planning on a vacation? Check out the travel tents for deals on Irish vacations. Those of you with children, there is a designated area for kid friendly fun! Rock out with one of the Celtic bands or get fancy with the cloggers. This event has fun for everyone.
    • Location: Crown Center, Kansas City, MO. Date: August 29-31.
    • Admission: $6.09-51.99, rate varies depending on date, tasting participation, shows, and desire for children's carnival tickets.
    • Parking: No rates listed.
